Llangwyfan is north of Ruthin, and high upon a hill, with a famous isolation hospital for TB being located there (Parish=hundred=Ruthin). On Catherine's 7 Jan 1878 marriage certificate to Thomas Owen, her father is listed as David Davies, farmer. One of the witnesses to the marriage is Mary Davies (sister? sister-in-law? mother?), Frank Owen, brother of Thomas Owen, is the other witness. Both Catherine and Thomas were residing at 74 Chester Road, Hulme, Manchester at the time of the marriage. In the 1881 census, Thomas (30,born Liverpool) and Catherine (23, born Wales) are living at 19 Bridden St., Manchester. They have 2 young children, William (2, born Manchester) and Ethel (4 months, born Manchester). |
