Mathilde Prothman Mathilda entered the Ursuline Community in St. Louis, Missouri and according to their records her name was "Anna" She entered the Ursuline Order on December 3, 1898 and professed on August 28, 1901. She was known as Sister Rose Prothman. Most of Sister Rose's religious life was spent in the convent at 2112 Twelfth Street in St. Louis where the sisters had a large boarding and day school for girls, called Ursuline Academy. The community and the Academy moved to the suburb of Kirkwood, Missouri in the late 1920's where Sister was remembered for her quiet reserve and her even temper.
During her religious life Sister
worked in the kitchen as a cook and she also did housework in the convent. After
a lengthy illness Sister died in St. Mary's Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. |
